Very soon, Mobile will join the few places in the world where a jetliner can be painted, thanks to the ripple effect of the Mobile FAL and Airbus America.
AL.com reports:
When Airbus made the monumental decision to build its American factory in Mobile, that obviously meant new jobs for the Port City. But it also suggested that new businesses would spring up to feed that factory’s need for components and services, which would mean more jobs. And beyond that, there’s another ripple: New operations that might arise to serve Airbus directly, but wouldn’t be here if not for Airbus.
If that’s abstract, a new two-bay paint shop being built at the Aeroplex by MAAS Aviation helps make it real. As does the fact that MAAS has recently announced openings in a training program to help potential employees learn the skills they’d need to work for the company.
